Closing the Year With Purpose

Hello everyone,

I hope your Thanksgiving went well.  Ours was different but very good.  As 2020 winds down, I want to reiterate that I am so thankful that I get to be part of a community of leaders who want to make the world a better place.  The book of Isaiah tells us that when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will raise up a standard against our enemy.  That standard is truth and light, and you are all part of that standard.  You are all working in truth and light to be sources of positive change in our neighborhoods and communities.  Being in this community with you is an honor and for that I am thankful.

As Christmas and New Year’s comes this year, try to take time to just be.  Reflect on what you are a part of and see the impact you have had. Realize that you are in a community with others with common passions and desires that galvanize a movement of change.  As you do so, I want to share with you a few things to ponder as you bring closure to the year.  This comes from a book called, Leadershift, by John Maxwell.  It falls under the focus of how we maximize our calling.

1.    Develop clear perspective
I encourage you to know what your 1% is, which is your vision and the ultimate destination you have.
2.    Integrate a daily focus with that long-term perspective
Make sure today drives your vision.  How is what you are doing today helping you to realize your destination?
3.    Expect to write your story in pencil
Learn to adapt.  This includes reading the environment around you, listening to what is being revealed, and reshaping your strategies. This was a theme for 2020.
4.    Lead with truth, love and respect for all

I sincerely hope and pray that you all have a blessed Holiday season, be it Christmas, New Years, Hanukkah, or the specific Holidays that you celebrate.

Warmest Regards,

Jamie
