Growing Together

Hello everyone,

I hope you are doing well. Spring is in full swing and I am finally getting through allergies, yippee.   This spring, probably more than any other, I have come to a deeper understanding of how messy relationships are.   One of our client’s leaders has a great saying about his church.  He says one thing that is for sure is they are full of humans. What a great statement.  Relationships are messy, because people are messy.  We so easily lose sight of what really matters and often pride (manifesting in hurt, insecurity, betterment, etc.) can derail us.   However, that is the great way our organizations are made, with people.  While people may be messy, we are also very fulfilling.   I often talk about nurturing our donors and volunteers, caring for them, partnering with them, and so on.  All that is important, but we also have to ensure we are taking care of the relationships we have in-house too--our staff and key volunteers.

  • Who is growing them?

  • Do they know they are cared for?

  • Do we see their potential?

  • How would they describe your working culture?

  • What do they need in order to grow?

As you go into the rest of spring, think about renewing your internal relationships.   Ensure they understand what being part of something bigger than themselves means.  Show them that the board and executive leaders are committed to helping them reach their potential.

I hope you have a great June!

Warmly,

Jamie
