Importance of Thank You Videos
Hi everyone,
I hope to find you well this month. June means warm weather for me. It means full swing summertime activities in my family. It is a super exciting time for us.
This time of year also means our last push for good donor solicitation, and along with that some meaningful donor cultivation and stewardship. With summer often being a more challenging time for one-on-one meetings, not even counting COVID, video outreach becomes even more important. Due to this thought, I have a few pointers on creating good thank you videos and a few platforms to share that make it even easier.
Here is what we have learned about effective thank you videos:
1. Quick, short thank you videos have a high impact on the donor relationship. They can be sent through email, text, snapchat, etc.
2. Videos that are more casual seem to get better traction with the donor and/or volunteer.
3. Selfie style thank you videos are often used, are easy, and seem to have good appreciation by donors and/or volunteers. They seem more intimate.
4. Thank you videos are really good for mixing up the thank you process with routine and even monthly donors.
5. These short videos can be used for special occasion identification too, such as birthdays, etc.
6. These short videos can also be used to give the donor and/or volunteer a next step. For example, thank you for caring, please see the button to learn how you can sign up to help, etc.
7. Thank you videos allow you to create personalization quickly and easily.
8. Anyone can do it, especially those who are slightly tech savvy.
From my experience, thank you and cultivation videos are widely overlooked. They should not be, though. They are very impactful tools. If you are interested in a formal program to help, a few platforms are:
ThankView
CauseVid
GrataVid
I do not have any personal stake in any of these companies. I just know of organizations who really like them. There are other companies who do this too. But remember, all you really need is a phone with a camera, a webcam or something to shoot and upload a quick video.
Summer is a time for lots of great photo opportunities, and now you can share them!
Have a great June!
Warmly,
Jamie
