As we venture into 2023, I want to bring attention to ways we can foster habits of giving in our relationships. We have a tremendous opportunity to foster giving habits, especially in younger generations who are still forming their habits.
Rethinking Mission Impact
So, here’s my challenge to you for September: Don’t settle for a fall appeal that just asks people to give. Spend some time and show your donors your real value proposition: how you transform society and how every resource you use is a critical part of that equation, whether it is staff salaries, backpacks for kids, computers, utilities, etc. Show the donor that they are a part of something bigger than themselves and that everything you invest in creates the value that they share with you.
Digital Communication
Pictures and video are powerful tools in your fundraising toolbox. And thanks to a multitude of free, low cost, and easy to use programs, creating visual content has never been easier. Programs such as Canva and Piktochart allow you to upload your own images, add text, and design away. You can create anything from surveys and presentations to infographics and thank you cards.
Reimagining Board Giving
“You all know I believe that the board should be part of donor relationship engagement in some form. The board should be involved with the donors cultivating, stewarding, and yes for some, inviting donors to give intimately.
